Atos grabs Onepoint lifeline
In early May, Atos received four offers of help. More recently, two offers were still in the works. The decision should have been taken in the first week of June, but negotiations do not appear to have been easy. Now there appears to be a solution on the basis of which all parties involved intend to reach a final restructuring agreement by July.
Creditors support Onepoint proposal
“The Board of Directors concluded, under the auspices of the Conciliator, that the proposal received from the Onepoint consortium is aligned with the corporate interest of Atos, including its employees, customers, suppliers, creditors, shareholders and other stakeholders”, Atos officially announced. on June 11th. The proposal fits into the financial ratios presented by the company, guarantees a more solid capital structure and, above all, offers adequate financial liquidity to finance the business. Onepoint’s proposal is also supported by a large number of Atos’ financial creditors.
This means that the EPEI consortium with controversial Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky will not stand a chance. EPEI had already abandoned its original plans to acquire legacy infrastructure management activities from Atos, Tech Foundations, in February 2024. Now the second attempt, launched in conjunction with London-based asset manager Attestor, is also failing. EPEI wanted to make Atos the “leading European industrial company in the development, optimization, operation and commercialization of data centers as a service”. Less profitable activities should be abandoned and others will be relocated to low-cost countries. Whether Atos should be kept together or divided, EPEI left open.
