Bitcoin (BTC) Hits $69,000, Binance Coin (BNB) Hits 3-Month High (Market Watch)
Bitcoin had a quiet weekend with little to no real movement, but Monday started off on a high note as the asset surged to $69,000 and above for the first time this month.
Altcoins are also slightly in the green. BNB stands out with a 5% increase now, but the asset rose again earlier this morning.
Bitcoin’s fight with $69,000
Last Monday was also quite positive for the leading cryptocurrency, as it rose from below $69,000 to a weekly high of over $70,500. However, BTC failed to maintain its trend and started losing value late in the day, especially on Tuesday. The retracement culminated with a price decline to $67,200.
Rougher waters follow up, with the biggest rise on Thursday at $69,500. However, bitcoin was halted there and was subsequently pushed south to a weekly low of $66,600.
After an immediate recovery that sent BTC soaring to $67,500, the asset calm there over the weekend and failed to produce any big moves. However, this business week started on a familiar note and bitcoin climbed to just over $69,000.
Its market capitalization rose to $1.36 trillion, while its alt dominance gained 0.3% since yesterday and now stands at 50.2%.

Local BNB peak
Most altcoins also followed BTC in its advance with minor gains. Ethereum reclaimed the $3,800 level after a 1.1% increase. Similar price increases are evident in SOL, XRP, DOGE, TON, ADA, SHIB, AVAX, etc.
Binance Coin is the best performer among the larger-cap alternatives, having jumped 5% to $630. Previously, BNB rose to $640 for the first time in almost three months.
Further gains come from PEPE, KAS and WIF, while NEAR, LIINK and UNI are slightly in the red.
The cumulative market capitalization of all crypto assets gained around $40 billion overnight and stands at just over $2.7 trillion on CG.
