Former president and 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump called himself a “cryptocurrency president” at a tech fundraiser in San Francisco. According to a report by Reuters, Trump raised $12 million from a fundraiser hosted by tech venture capitalists David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya. Trevor Traina, a San Francisco-based technology executive and Trump’s former ambassador to Austria, said Donald Trump “said he would be the president of cryptocurrencies,” in a speech at the event.
Trump considered cryptocurrencies important and stressed that he was very supportive of the sector. That’s according to Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon, who also attended the fundraiser. According to Dhillon, Trump did not provide details on his proposed crypto policy.
