IBM introduces new cold storage technology for crypto assets
IBM has released cryptographic signature technology for managing digital assets in cold storage, reducing the risk associated with manual processes and keeping assets away from an Internet connection.
The often called tech giant Big blue — said in a statement Tuesday that it is IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signature Orchestrator (OSO) helps protect high-value transactions by offering additional layers of security, including disconnected network operations, time-based security, and multi-stakeholder approval of electronic transactions.
The limits of cold storage come down to human interactions, which can take the form of inside jobs, forced attacks – when violence is threatened to get a transaction signed – or other operational errors involving data center administrators and simple “paper” approaches and pen,” IBM said.
“IBM’s Confidential Computing Division has been a trusted partner over the years, and we are pleased to complement Metaco’s catalog of institutional cold storage solutions with the unique air gap cold storage enabled by OSO, especially because cold storage requirements are increasingly stipulated by regulators in markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan,” Metaco CEO Adrien Treccani said in a statement.
