It’s one of the most iconic and popular music festivals in the world, and it’s notoriously difficult to get a ticket.

Glastonbury is on again and around 210,000 people came to Somerset this year, with Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA headlining the UK’s biggest festival this weekend.

Those in the crowd are a lucky minority — an estimated 2.5 million people tried to buy tickets to this year’s event, meaning the odds really aren’t in your favor if you want to go.

Tickets typically sell out within an hour of going on sale, and demand is unlikely to ease next year as the festival is likely to take a year off in 2026.

So if you’re feeling jealous this year, how do you get tickets to Glastonbury 2025 and how can you give yourself the best chance possible?

We’ve looked at all the details available, as well as some tips so you’re better prepared when the time comes.

Registration details: Before potential festival-goers have the opportunity to purchase tickets, they must register on the official website.

One of the reasons this is done is to prevent ticket sales, as all tickets are non-transferable. Each ticket features the photograph of the registered holder, and security checks are carried out to ensure that only the person in the photograph is admitted to the festival.

Registration is free and only takes a few minutes. You will be asked to provide basic contact details and submit a standard passport photo.

Registration closes a few weeks before tickets are released.

Where to buy tickets: Tickets can be purchased exclusively at glastonbury.seetickets.com as soon as they are available.

No other website or agency will take tickets, so if you see someone claiming to have Glastonbury tickets available to buy, it’s probably a scam.

When tickets go on sale: We don’t yet know the details for next year, but Glastonbury ticket sales usually go on sale in October or November the year before the festival.

This year’s ticket sales began, after a delay, in November 2023. Bus tickets typically go on sale a few days earlier (traditionally on Thursday), with general admission tickets on Sunday morning a few days earlier. after.

For those who miss out, there is also a resale taking place in April for returned tickets or those with an unpaid balance.

This year’s April resale took place on April 18 (for ticket and bus travel options) and April 21 (general admission tickets and accommodation options).

How much does it cost: General admission tickets for this year’s festival cost £355 each, plus a £5 booking fee. This is an increase on last year’s price of £335 each, which was also an increase on the price of 2022 of around £280.

So we can probably assume that ticket prices will rise again for next year’s festival.

Remember, there are options to pay for your ticket in installments, so you won’t have to pay the full price all at once if you don’t want to. All tickets are subject to a £75 deposit, with the remaining balance payable by the first week of April.

It is also important to highlight that Glastonbury is a family festival, which is reflected in the fact that children up to 12 years old at the time of the festival have free entry.

TIPS FOR THE BIG DAY OF TICKET SALES

The competition for tickets when they go on sale to the general public is nothing short of arduous, with demand far outstripping supply.

Here are some tips to give you the best possible chance of bagging tickets:

Visit the website: You may see a stripped-down, simple-looking version of the booking page when you sign in. Organizers say this is intentional to deal with high traffic and does not mean the site is down, so make sure you don’t refresh or exit the page.

When you get to the first page of the booking site, you will need to enter the registration number and postcode registered to you and the other people you are trying to book tickets for.

Upon proceeding, the details provided will be displayed on the next page.

Once you have verified that all of your information is correct, click “confirm” to enter the payment page, where you will need to verify/change your billing address, confirm your payment information, accept the terms and conditions, and complete the purchase within the allotted time.

Timing: It may time out if you don’t act quickly, so it’s a good idea to save your data in a separate document so you can quickly copy and paste it.

You may also need to approve your payment, which may mean answering security questions from your card issuer. Have a device handy to make sure you’re ready for this.

Internet connection: This goes without saying, but you won’t stand a chance without a stable internet connection.

Avoid trying to rely on your cell phone signal, and politely ask people you share the Internet with to delay any online activity that could slow down your connection.

Do not give up: Until the page says tickets are sold out, you still have a chance.

Just before this point, there will be a message saying “all available tickets have now been allocated”, which users often think means their chances have increased.

What it actually means is that orders are being processed for all available tickets. But if someone whose order is being processed doesn’t follow our previous advice and runs out of time, their loss could be their gain.

Multiple tabs and devices: Glastonbury advises customers against trying to use multiple tabs and devices to increase their chances of winning a ticket.

The Glastonbury website says that operating multiple devices simultaneously is “a waste of valuable resources and does not reflect the spirit of the festival”.

“Please stick to one device and one tab,” it adds, “so you can focus on entering your details without cluttering your browser and help us make ticket sales as quick and smooth as possible for everyone.” .
