Reuters seeks Swiss financial correspondent
Reuters is looking for an experienced journalist with strong news judgment, a flair for developing sources and the ambition to dig deep and generate exclusives on a sector closely watched by our readers at the heart of global finance.
In this role, you will generate agenda-setting coverage of the Swiss banking sector and the world’s largest private wealth center, including market leader UBS. You will work independently on story ideas around the Swiss financial sector and its drivers and influencers, in collaboration with an experienced, dynamic and international team in Zurich as well as Reuters’ broader global finance team. Coverage will also span M&A.
About the function
As Swiss financial correspondent at the Reuters, you will:
- Create solid sources to help break news and generate agenda-setting exclusives
- Provide a steady stream of deeply reported initiatives and stories that showcase your expertise
- Work closely with the wider Reuters finance team on industry and M&A stories
- Produce engaging copy, including the use of graphics and data, for our global media and finance readers
- Work with visual peers to help supplement the multimedia file
- Cover major breaking news outside the main beat as part of the bureau’s shared tasks
- Report to the Chief Correspondent, Switzerland and Austria.
About you
You are suitable for the role of Swiss financial correspondent at the Reutersif you have:
- Passion for breaking news and source development
- Excellent news judgment, focusing on big stories and broader context
- Five years of experience in finance and banking reporting
- A talent for teamwork, regardless of borders, languages and media
- Ability to work under pressure in a news agency, where speed, accuracy and balance are essential
- Excellent written English and fluent German
- Working knowledge of French and/or Italian would be helpful
