State of Missouri extends financial aid deadline until May 1 – News
Missouri State University is extending the financial aid priority deadline from April 1 to May 1. This gives students more time to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form, which determines their eligibility for university-funded financial aid and scholarships.
Due to delays and technical errors on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form, many students and families have had difficulty submitting this important financial aid document.
Moving the financial aid deadline to May 1 allows students more time to submit or correct their FAFSA forms.
“The implementation of the federal government’s new FAFSA form has experienced numerous delays and technical errors that have made it difficult for students to complete the form,” said Rob Moore, director of financial aid at Missouri State University.
“Students and families have faced challenges that are beyond their control. We hope the deadline extension will alleviate your concerns and allow more students to qualify for financial aid.”
Students who apply to Missouri State and complete their FAFSA forms by May 1 will be eligible for all need-based financial aid, including the Mo State Access Award. The Mo State Access Award guarantees free tuition and fees for Missouri students who are Pell eligible.
Refund deadline moves to June 1st
The university has also changed the tuition deposit and housing contract refund deadlines from May 1st to June 1st.
The change allows students and families to move forward with scheduling and housing selection guidance while reviewing financial aid offers.
