The ASI Alliance aims for big tech AI dominance with a decentralized network
Fetch.ai, SingularityNET and Ocean Protocol – collectively known as the “Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI)” – announced the finalization of their merger in June. It aims to create the largest decentralized network for artificial intelligence with the new ASI token.
Effective June 11, 2024, FET will be renamed ASI and the merger will be completed by June 13. The ASI token will operate across the entire network, offering significant scalability and power.
Alliance for Artificial Superintelligence
According to the official press release shared with CryptoPotato, users can start trading FETs for ASI tokens through a secure token migration agreement on June 11th, followed by AGIX and OCEAN tokens on June 13th. This contract will securely migrate tokens for over 200,000 holders at previously fixed exchange rates.
Ben Goertzel, CEO of ASI Alliance, said:
“This merger paves the way for a new era in artificial intelligence, joining our forces to achieve unprecedented progress. This is just the beginning of a larger movement to bring together forces working towards beneficial decentralized AGI and super-intelligence.
The ASI token is a symbol and practical tool for our shared quest to leverage advanced artificial intelligence, blockchain and decentralized governance to move quickly and effectively towards an extraordinary future for all.”
The merger aims to bring decentralized AI infrastructure closer to reality. The collective research, brands, technologies and products of SNET, Fetch.ai and Ocean Protocol will be used to set the stage for an open and scalable AI system that uses blockchain to enable the development and use of AI ethical and reliable.
Challenging the dominance of big tech in artificial intelligence
The partnership born from the trip also aims to challenge the dominance of Big Tech in the development of artificial intelligence amid the rapid expansion of the sector.
Ben Goertzel, Humayun Sheikh, and Trent McConaghy, long-time AI advocates and early adopters, created the ASI Alliance to accelerate the commercialization and monetization of their technologies, making advanced AI platforms and large sets of widely accessible data. Their ultimate goal is to elevate the development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as a precursor to achieving superintelligence.
Sheikh, who is the CEO and founder of Fetch.ai and president of ASI, said:
“With our newfound economies of scale, the Alliance can take concrete steps to change how Big Tech controls the narrative and direction of AI. We have a long way to go, but this first step provides the foundation for others with a similar mission to make a difference.”
