New data reveals the US states that are most stressed about their finances, with Colorado coming in first place.

Online lender CreditNinja analyzed average monthly search volumes over the past 12 months to discover the most searched states for terms related to money and financial matters. The study examined more than 200 search terms, including “financial aid,” “debt relief” and “student loan forgiveness.”

Colorado is at the top of the list with 3,631.20 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Coloradan’s top searches include ‘mortgage rates’ with 1,650.33 searches, ‘loans’ with 149.44 searches, and ‘car payment calculator’ with 225.01 searches.

The Centennial State saw an increase in monthly searches of more than 75% compared to Mississippi, which sits at the bottom of the full rankings with just 2,069.95 average searches per 100,000 residents.

Utah is in second place, with an average of 3,593.29 monthly searches per 100 thousand people. The Beehive State searched ‘how to make money fast’ the most across all states, with 70.95 average monthly searches for that term.

Florida it is third, with a monthly average of 3,416.97 searches per 100 thousand people. ‘Food stamps’ was the second most popular term searched by Floridians, averaging 397.49 monthly searches.

In fourth place is Georgia, with an average of 3,219.63 monthly searches per 100 thousand residents. The Peach State had the second highest number of “how to make money online” searches compared to any other state, averaging 106.08 per month.

Arizona comes in fifth place, with an average of 3,149.67 monthly searches per 100 thousand residents. Arizonans sought “freedom debt relief” the most across all states, with a monthly average of 38.91.

Nevada is in sixth place, with a monthly average of 3,145.91 searches per 100 thousand people. The top three terms in the state were ‘mortgage calculator’ with 1,210.01 searches, ‘mortgage rates’ with 332.90 searches, and ‘student loan forgiveness’ with 314.90 searches.

washington is in seventh place with an average of 3,145.06 searches per month per 100,000 residents. The Evergreen State has the third highest average search volume among all states for the term ‘debt consolidation’ at 33.49.

In eighth place is Tennessee, with 3,131.17 average monthly searches per 100 thousand residents. One of the main searches in this state was ‘loans’, with an average volume of 202.06.

Massachusetts it is ninth, with an average of 3,121.04 monthly searches per 100 thousand people. Massachusetts residents searched for ‘credit score’ an average of 71.65 times per month, the second most of all states.

In tenth place Virginia, with a monthly average of 3,090.03 searches per 100 thousand people. The state searched for “debt relief” more than any other state, with an average of 12.97 monthly searches.
