These cities have the highest percentage of remote workers – how could this affect your finances?

Find one remote work it has become more difficult in the last year or so. Demand has increased for jobs that allow workers to perform their tasks from home or other locations of their choosing. Demand has surged during the coronavirus pandemic — after many workers were given the opportunity to work from home amid shutdown orders.

If you’re looking for a remote job, you might have luck in some US cities. Here are some of the cities with the highest percentage of remote workers in the US, according to Nasdaq.

Seattle, Washington: 36% remote workforce
SmartAsset ranked 344th in the largest US cities in terms of the percentage of workers working from home to find the largest remote workforces.
Savings for remote workers
Living in a city with a higher percentage of remote workers can affect your finances in a few ways. First, if you get a remote job, you can save on expenses like eating out, buying office clothes, and spending money on gas for your commute.
Shorter routes
Speaking of commuting, even if you’re not a remote worker, living in a city with a higher percentage of remote workers can be an advantage. You’ll likely have a shorter commute and spend less on gas since fewer commuters are on the roads. According to Nasdaq, in Cary, “for those who do not work remotely, the average commute time is 22.2 minutes – about 3 minutes less than average.”
