Wood County candidates report campaign finances | News, Sports, Jobs

PARKERSBURG — The chairman of the Wood County House of Delegates finance committee leads local lawmakers in campaign finance, according to second-quarter 2024 financial disclosures filed with the West Virginia Secretary of State. Vernon Criss, the Republican incumbent in the 12th District, has reported contributions to date of $56,964. Second-quarter 2024 campaign finance reports are due July 8 and cover the period April 29 through June 30. Criss reported $600 in contributions for the reporting period, $100 from the West Virginia Retailers Association and $500 from the Communications Workers of America in Charleston. Candidates for the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th House districts and the 3rd Senate District from Wood County are unopposed in the general election. In the 14th Delegate District, incumbent Delegate Dave Foggin, a Republican, and Democrat Jim Marion are running. Foggin is a first-term legislator. Foggin and Marion reported no contributions for the period and no contributions and expenses for the year. Delegate Bill Anderson, R-10th, reported no contributions or expenses for the reporting period and total contributions of $33,940 for the election year to date. Delegate Scot C. Heckert, R-13th, reported contributions of $2,250 for the reporting period. Heckert reported $250 from the Oil and Gas Political Action Committee and $1,000 each from Michael Stephen Haid of Charleston and Stacey C. Shy of Huntington. Heckert reported contributions of $27,620 and expenses of $12,545 for the year to date. Delegate Bob Fehrenbacher, R-11th, reported contributions of $500 for the period to the West Virginia Oil and Gas Political Action Committee. He reported year-to-date campaign contributions of $14,603 and expenses of $1,870. Incumbent state Sen. Donna Boley, R-Pleasants, reported no contributions for the period and a year-to-date balance of $12,095. Third-quarter campaign finance reports covering the period July 1 through Sept. 30 are due Oct. 7. The general election is Nov. 5.
