Responsibilities:

  • Cover the biggest, latest stories moving markets every day the market is open.
  • Coverage will include corporate earnings, corporate news, business news trends, economic data releases and other market-moving reports or announcements.
  • Deliver a clean copy on tight deadlines.
  • Work closely with editors to test, innovate, and refine story selection, structure, and tone while emphasizing SEO best practices.
  • Contribute to our daily live blog coverage of our markets, coverage of other important events such as Fed meetings, annual shareholder meetings, as well as contribute to our flagship daily newsletter, The Morning Brief.
  • Cultivate industry sources to bring exclusive stories to the Yahoo Finance audience.

A lot about you:

  • Located in the New York area – role requires office presence at least 3x per week
  • 2+ years of experience covering or working in financial markets.
  • Expert understanding of financial markets and industry jargon.
  • Strong news judgment and ability to work and think quickly.
  • Strong knowledge of key economic data releases and earnings calendar.
  • Fluency in digesting and interpreting economic data and corporate earnings reports.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • History of success in a fast-paced newsroom or similar competitive environment.
  • BA or equivalent work experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Experience working with multiple content management systems or other editorial tools.
  • Use and knowledge of X and other social media platforms that the financial industry frequently interacts with.
